Meet Daisy Ba-ad: Artistic Director, Life Coach, Motivational Speaker, Trainer
72
Daisy B. Ba-ad, is a playwright, artistic director, composer, entertainer, trainer and motivational speaker based in Cebu City, Philippines, whom I have the honor and pleasure to befriend in this lifetime.
And oh, If you are a hubber, you probably would have seen her on HubPages. She is none other than dayzeebee. This is a surprise so I don't know how she is going to react to all of this.
How I Met Daisy
Intimidating, passionate, straightforward are the words that came to my mind the first time I met Daisy. She was going to conduct our music ministry workshops and I blanched when she asked each of us to sing a few lines in front of her. Being a shy and timid person and not confident with my singing skills, I was absolutely terrified. I opened my mouth and out came “For thine is the kingdom and the power” in a highly strained and tight voice when she said curtly, “Stop criticizing yourself!” I gasped inaudibly. How did she know? I looked at her. Her eyes were closed, her hand poised in the air ready to cue me as she said, “Again!” I was trembling when I was done.

Daisy's Passion
As a young child, Daisy already found her passion in entertaining her family and friends. During parties, she vividly recalls how her dad would clear the table to have a makeshift stage; put her on top and how she would dance with so much zest and excitement. “I loved making people laugh and giving them joy. But most of all, I loved it that daddy was very proud of me.”
She was a natural in front of a crowd. She could grab your attention if she wants to and stir up all sorts of emotions and thoughts. She was all over the place improving her skills in oration, declamation, singing, dancing, writing songs and poetry, writing and directing musical plays. One of her original Cebuano musical entitled Tall Tales Kuno was awarded a grant by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Philippines under their Artistic Excellence program.

At age 47, her passion for theater arts has never waned. This keeps her blood and creative juices flowing. Her firm belief that theater arts can truly mold people’s character is so deeply ingrained in her system that she even uses this in her workshops for corporate groups as well. Many have truly benefited under her tutelage and I am simply one of them.

Daisy's Heart
Daisy and I are so different (she’s the animated director with this booming voice that is very commanding while I’m the timid, soft spoken and quiet one) that many people would wonder why we are such good friends. When I asked her this question, she laughed saying, “Well, for one you were never “star-struck” with me. You are so real. I can’t even imagine a grown woman who is so transparent. I guess I’m so used to either people trying to make an impression or they’re too intimidated to talk to me. But you…you just make me laugh with your child-like ways and never ending questions and stories.” She suddenly grew very serious. “But most of all, you have such a beautiful friendship with God.”
It was my turn to laugh breaking the seriousness of the moment. She is the only person I know who in our conversations would actually ask me, “Can you tell me something about God today?” And having never been able to share fully about my friendship with God, oh, I was delighted to do so!
Our friendship has deepened through the years because we value the same things; love for God, wanting to understand and experience unconditional love, the desire to constantly grow as persons and make a difference in other people’s lives. As spiritual partners, we have given our commitment to be always truthful to each other no matter what. This helps us deal with ourselves - face our weaknesses and improve on our strengths. And of course, we have a lot of fun. If I feel down in the dumps, she brightens my mood when she takes on a silly character, my favorite is the girl with the british accent. You should hear her! Likewise, if she feels low, I tickle her to death and say silly things that usually makes her laugh.
Silly Moments in Taiwan
With the director’s hat laid away for a moment, Daisy at home could be seen playing with her dog, doing some gardening and concocting all sorts of dishes for me to eat (whenever I come to visit). I initially drove Miss Daisy crazy with my penchant for child play, constant probing and incessant questions which she has to answer or else. I asked her what it was like to have fans asking for autographs, what it was like to be with famous actors and directors, to be performing in a huge crowd, to be interviewed by the media. She also went crazy when I’d ask her how she felt, what she thought, why she did this and did that in anything and everything under the sun.
It didn’t take long though and she allowed the child in her to come out more often. We have our silly moments when we talk “singing our lines”; exercising, cycling, meditating and healing; watching Disney movies; and one of my favorites is when I’d get to choose a book and I would read to her over the phone a few pages. This is normally followed by long discussions and sharing of our reflections regarding the topic for the day.
Daisy's Dream
What more does she want in her life? The question makes her pause as she stared into space before looking at me intently. “My dreams are all here in my vision board.” She points to the poster posted on her bedroom wall. I see family bonding and publishing bestselling books, CD’s, financial abundance to be able to share more to others and even guesting in Oprah Show (which made me laugh out loud because my face was there too).
With the growing, learning and healing taking place in her life right now, she simply wants to finally settle down in a place where she can finally call home. Of course, she can still see herself doing the things she love doing - directing, training and writing. To read more of her writings, visit Dayzeebee's hubs and articles on our website: Loving Abundance.
She also wants to have the time and the budget to be able to write two musical plays (and of course direct it for the world premiere) that are close to her heart. My Precious One, a little girl’s friendship with God; and Hara Amihan, another name for Queen Juana, the wife of King Jumabon – the first Cebuano couple to be baptized by the Spaniards. And she dreams that it will be part of the Music Theater International list of musical plays. She declares to me with a twinkle in her eye, “It is a legacy I want to leave to the world.”
The Good Witch of the North
One Last Note
I wrote this article as a loving tribute to honor Ms. Daisy. Also, it brings me into realization that artists, entertainers or other famous people are just like anyone of us. They hurt, cry, laugh, love and dream.
As I am writing this, years have passed and my voice no longer trembles when I sing before her. (Chuckles) I am proud of her and the things she has done all these years. Some of the reasons as to why she is really good at what she does: her passion, her desire to see people grow, her belief and willingness to give someone a chance and importantly because she always strives to learn something new. Also Ms. Daisy is quite a terrific performer and she can act really well. I look forward to one of these days to see her perform on stage. "Can I have your autograph now?" She still refuses to give me one. Hahaha
Ms. Daisy, I have been a witness on how you train people and marvel at your ability to see the potential in each one. So I pray that your dreams will come to reality; that the persons who believe in you will come into your life giving you wondrous opportunities and support. Most of all may you have a life filled with glorious sunrise and sunsets on a journey to loving abundance.
You have been my “angel” in so many ways and I thank God for you. You taught me to see the beauty within me, built a bridge back to myself and allowed me to shine. Yes, you continually allow me to shine in your presence and it takes a big heart to do that. I am forever and deeply grateful.

Thank you for introducing me to another talented and special person here on hubpages!!! Great hub written by a great friend. I'm sure she'll love it. ;-)
Wow! what a nice tribute and honor to Dayzeebee as she is known here on HubPages. As far as I'm concerned you are both already stars in your own right and I'm sure Ophra will be honored one day.
Lovely tribute to a great lady. I was so happy this hub was not about the movie "Driving Miss daisy" (not one of my favourites) instead it was an insight into the life and work of two great people YOU and Daisy.
Hey Little Sis!
I had not realized Daisy was such a celebrety. (My theater experience is limited to school and community theater) Fame can be a very isolating thing, even in small venues. You hub speaks not only speaks well of her ... but also of you.
Blesings!
Hey BD :0)
Did not know you were a Richard the Third LoL
Nice to see you
Mike :0)
Hi Ripplemaker....you never cease to amaze me! Daisy is going to LOVE this! You Rock Girl...I want to see Daisy while she reads this...can you take pictures! This is awesome.
What a beautiful and candid tribute so openly expressed straight from your heart. I was glued to every word about our Angel Daisy. WOW, WIKI, DAISY, WOW!
The whole hub Michelle, from the title, how you angel friends met, Daisy's passion, and I can hear her from her heart asking you so seriously "can you tell me something about God today" and your delight to do so. And the questions that drove Miss Daisy crazy...I just LOVED that! She's gonna love it, sis! :) Thumbs way up high for a fine and deserving tribute to dayzeebee, our Daisy Angel. {group hugs}
Ripplemaker I am so full of love and gratitude...my heart is in my throat. Please pass the tissue. My golly gee whiz now i'm the one who's timid and shy.LOL. On the way to rehearsals I was floating in the air in a cloud of disbelief that you would take the time to do all this for me? I would have wanted to comment when I came home but I something was wrong with the internet last night. I would have enjoyed playing tag with you and Mike to celebrate the moment.LOL
Thank you Michelle for being a perfect expression of God's love. If not for you my image of the punishing God would not have broken to pieces. Remember how it came crumbling down? It was your sharing of how the lenten season reminded you of the experience where you found yourself feeling how Jesus felt on the cross and how you would go give Him a hug to ease His pain. It was this story that allowed me to see the Loving God. I still shed tears recalling this story. My old self would have seen it as a blasphemous act with thoughts of "who are you to dare confort the son of God?!" Instead I saw how happy God felt seeing His precious little one come to give His son comfort in her own special way. I saw the truth that day. I saw the Loving God that day. I saw the exceptional relationship you have with God that day --- for only those who truly understand God's unconditional love could give God a hug so tender and sweet.
Everyday I celebrate life and love of God with you and I am forever grateful that He has chosen you to be the angel who revealed to me the Loving God that He is. And so to you my sweet precious friend I say, please cease not to keep Driving Miss Daisy Crazy with God's love. Hugs and kisses to you Angel Michelle:)
Was looking forward to Miss Daisy's reaction to your hub, haha, and knew it would be a loving one and of deep appreciation. You have a blessed friendship, and out of this friendship you are doing much good for others, by both of you being an inspiration!
Yes Michelle I love your questions coz it forces me to contemplate on things and helps me redefine what I truly value. It's great to know God and I have the same answer.LOL. I can hear Him giggle when you do that. Hugs:)
Allow me this time to say thank you to Mike, VioletSun, Mamacoots, Laringo, Princessa, BDazller and Dottie, for acknowledging the beauty of the friendship I have with Ripplemaker. It is through the support of Hubbers that we have grown to be more courageous in sharing God's unconditional love through the concepts we tackle in our hubs.
I am grateful for the opportunity Hubpages has given us to share what we know is true. Thank you again for all the love and appreciation you have extended us. Be blessed always and in all ways:)
Very touching, ripplemaker!!! I don't know what else to say, other than this was amazing to read!!!
Morning Michelle :0) OOO Daisy :0) OOO
Its great reading all your comments and feeling the love from your hearts .We serve a great and wonderful loving God. It was fun last night playing International Tag....Daisy I would love to be in one of your acting classes...I have never acted on stage that is and I know i would be good because I,m in-touch with my true self and I know that's a big part part of it...Boy if God told us to move to the philippines, I would be there in a heart beat, true friendship and love are more precious than Gold!!!!!!!! Hey I,m going to paste this message on Daisy`s page too Michelle.
You know people have said in the past that the age of innocence is dead I beg to differ. What we all have growing here among us is a new healthy unconditional love in its purest form that has and is being refined in Gods fire. To truly love I believe is to face our fears or the unknown but with God at the helm and his true love guiding our hearts.
Michelle thank you for the complement last night and i quote....
You know what? It makes me happy I can be me with you. That is certainly an important part of friendship huh?
That right there is what it is all about and is why Jesus came so that we could be free to love freely and be our true selves!!!!!!!!!!
Lord I pray Our friendship continues to grow brighter and stronger every moment and that you protect us all as you promised to those of us that choose life in you. Bless Daisy and Michelle this coming week with wonderfull expressions of your unfailing love!!!!!!
Ok I love you Guy`s In Jesus Mighty Name.... Mike :0) OOOOOO Cynthia`s sleeping but I know she sends her love as well...I,m so happy to know you both:0)
Like you ripplemaker and like VioletSun I couldn't wait to get Daisy's reaction. As Daisy wrote her words of love and gratitude I could feel within me the depth of that love between friends and that felt very very special to me as if I was there to witness. Ok, it's my turn for the tissues. To friendships! May they be blessed forever :)
Ripplemaker,
This is a very nice tribute. I enjoyed the read and comments.Who did you say is driving who crazy? Tell me again.
Thank you. ~ eddie
Great hub, thanks for telling us all about Miss Daisy :)
What a nice tribute to Daisy. I will share my bias, I think this hub should have one first prize in the contest for the stumble ads because it is about a real life entertainer and wonderful woman we know here on hubpages :). Good job.
I feel sooooo good after reading this hub and all the comments :)
Michelle, you are truly an example of what humankind should be... Oh the world would be so nice and welcoming... Every time I read one of your hubs I feel things that I can`t explain by words (don`t even ask, I`m already crazy today lol)...
It`s not the first time I felt like I was there with you and Daisy talking and laughing... and what a great feeling this is! Thank you so much for being a good friend and for allowing us to "feel" your love.
I don`t know if I will have the chance to visit the Philipines before you visit Portugal but I`m sure we will meet someday... I "dream" very often about the possibility of meeting with some of the good friends I have here and I imagine how fun it would be to have a big party with all of you... can you imagine that? "Hi Daisy, can I have your autograph?" LOL I believe it would be the biggest and longest party in history :D
Well, now it`s time to rest for tomorrow`s busy day but at least I know what will be my dream tonight... Thanks for giving me such a good mood! Love you :-)
Hi Michelle
And I thought this was a review of THAT movie! LOL But of course I'm not disappointed, for Daisy's life is also as entertaining as it is inspiring. Thanks for sharing more than snapshot of an artiste's life :D
wonderful just wonderful and I need the tissues too...both from your tribute to such a great lady and then her reply about yet another great lady...am so pleased to have met you here and you bring happiness to us all...all the time G-Ma :O) late as usual Hugs & Prayers
Michelle, this is such a beautiful hub, full of love! You and Daisy do have a way of bringing tears to my eyes!
It was fun to read Daisy's surprised reaction to this honour you've paid her. I'm so happy that the two of you were brought together. You 'fit' together so well!
I just keep wanting to say, "beautiful!" I love all the pictures, too.
I'm certain that Daisy Angel will fulfill all the dreams on her vision board!
Thank-you for sharing Daisy with us this way. I can't wait to see you both on Oprah!
Much Love & Light to you both!!!
Wow I am overwhelmed by the beautiful sharings found in the comment box. I cannot contain the joy that now fills my heart and must express them by responding with love.
Anna Marie thank you for feeling the pureness of love that Ripplemaker put into this hub. It is that which I believe touched you deeply.
Uninvited Writer, you may not write much in comment boxes but once you do we know you are saying much and with all sincerity at that. Thank you for the honor of receiving a feedback from you.
Eddie Perkins, I found your comment adorable. LOL yes Michelle and I make each other crazy in different ways and that allows both of us to grow in more ways than one. Thank you for finding joy in the friendship we have.
SweetiePie, I find your bias amusing, endearing and lovable. Thank you for the vote of confidence.LOL. Your sweetness is showing clearly.
Funride, oh I just know it will be fun to have that party with you and all the hubber friends we have here. Let's make that come true. Okay time for me to make a new vision board which includes all the things I'd like to do with the hubbers.LOL. I'm serious though. Thank you Funride for allowing yourself to express freely and unbashfully. It takes a man to be able to display fun and excitement in recognizing boundless love. Oh and if you want some help in explaining how you feel when you read Ripplemaker's hub, here it is. You experience the pureness of love coming from a childlike faith. It is the gift Michelle is endowed with -- one that gives power to her healing gift. Hugs and see you soon!:)
Cris A, I'm glad you appreciated the deeper look into an artist's life bit. Thank you for finding it inspirational as well although I do believe all our lives are inspirational. Some simply get the chance to be told.LOL. Take care brother.:)
G-Ma, hugs oh sweet wonderful one. You are never late at giving us joy. You always give us that zest and energy to give love and share love and be love. Thank you G-ma for your tender hugs through your comments. You are one great example of unconditional love. I hope to see you too when Funride brings on that party. LOL. Hugs:)
VioletSun it always means much to us when you come and give us support and encouragment and blessings. We are fortunate indeed to have met you in this community. Thank you too for affirming the blessing found in our friendship. Hugs to you.
Angel Dottie, oh I could just imagine hearing and seeing you sniffle as you "watched" the response.LOL. I want to hug you too and tell you that you have played a major part in making my friendship with Michelle grow deeper. We learned much from you. I have your angel ornament "flying" right beside the computer and your "angel stone" (I renamed it) is in my pocket during rehearsals! Your talking card is on top of the TV so I can open it when I want to hear you. That's how "close" you are to me.LOL. Huuugs angel Dottie. Again Congrats for winning hubmob stumble awards! Let's party!:0
Hi Angel Shirley, oh I just hope those tears are ones caused by joy.LOL. I know it is more than joy though. I know those tears come from a heart that recognizes the depth and pureness of love boundless. The same one shared by Charlie's Angels and other hubbers. Thank you for believing in my dreams and liking the old photos haahaha. Hey wouldn't it be grand to have Charlie's Angels on Oprah too?! Yeah that would be awesome! Be blessed Shirley and again great work in hubmobbing:)
I just had to share what I thought Dayzee :). Congrats once again on the great hub Ripplemaker.
What a wonderful tribute to your talented and loving friend. Wow, this hub is jammed pack. Hubpages is amazing stage.
Hi Michelle,
congrats on another great hub. Your title was misleading though, since Daisy appeared extremely calm in response to this.
yeah.. the title was kind of farfetched but all in all i enjoyed reading every single bit of it... and i couldn't imagine anyone else who could write this full page of our dear miss daisy!!
i would skip class(now coz im still studying) or work in the future (hehehe) if i found out that you (both) would be in oprah's show! ( i was gonna watch charise's feature but was busy, how much more "MISS DAISY's" moment!!)!
eversince, i was under miss daisy's direction.. she would give inspiration in every simple action that we would partake, every small move would have a soul, would have life.. that it wont be acting anymore, but truth... thats how she inspired each of us to present ourselves... either on stage or in the real world.
and we all know that lessons could be taught in either the classroom or through experience.. and nothing beats the wonderful experience that you would encounter under miss daisy's watchful eyes.. hehe.. you would really explore untapped emotions, talents and skills that would unlock you.. not knowing what your capable of.. and where or who is the key you might ask?? who else.. hahaah
now, even this simple tribute (c/o miss michelle) would show how grateful we are for having such a wonderful blessing to come across our busy lives...
and as i read every line of the page, tears amidst the smile would accumulate in my eyes, reading firsthand the wonderful bond of both miss daisy and miss michelle..
i pray to God that He may continue to shower you both with abundant blessings!!
Take care always and God bless you!!
-ka'lics-
Thank you Daisy for your very kind words above. I also love listening to your voice and Michelles' whenever I think of you. Like I feel like right now! Awwwww, you feel so close when I play that message. Thank you!:)
It's nice to check back and see that more people are paying tribute to Daisy through these really nice comments. I especially love the one above me from ka'lics, one of Daisy's students. How sweet!
Have a 'sweet day' ladies!
it's so nice to witness deep connections between lovely people. What a nice description of your connection and loving friendship! =))
What a lovely tribute to a special friend and positive influence on your life. I'm sure she is proud to be your friend, and you should feel proud of this lovely work!
hahahaha, your dad never saw a talking card? That must have been weird. I remember the first time I saw musical cards in the store, I was fascinated and played them all. I don't know if the store clerks liked that or not but I was hooked! Then this year they came out with the musical with recording cards, LOL.
Thats nice that your dad is there for a visit and very nice he'll make it home for valentines day to see your mom. I talked with my mom on the phone yesterday because it was her birthday. I wish my parents lived a little closer so I could see them more often. How far away from you does your mom and dad live?
Well nice talking with ya, say hi to Daisy! Will talk again soon, sis.
I did a google search to see if your dad would be able to make it home. He is sis, you won't be getting those nasty thunderstorms again til Sunday night so enjoy the next few days of rain without all the noise.
Well I guess you won't be swimming in the ocean on valentines day. The google search said your temperatures are in the 80's. With those temperatures I would be at the ocean, that is if it wasn't rainy! Right now in Boston it is 30o F. So if you came to visit me today we could go ice skating or ice fishing!
It is 4:00 p.m Friday the 13th here as I write and 5:00 a.m. 2/14 where you are so I can officially be the first one when you wake to wish you a Happy Valentines Day.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY, SIS! http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff240/commentch
Here is a valentine wish for your dad, too! Hi Michelle's Dad :) Happy Valentines Day! http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KvTBomTnF1o/R7Q-eEWbHBI/
Thanks to Michelle I returned here to read Daisy comment and I must say I am blushing right now :)
But on the other hand I´m also excited with the idea that having a HubParty can really be made. There is nothing like believing!
Daisy, your description of Michelle was beautiful and coming from you I´m sure it is very accurate. And it explains why I love Michelle so much - she´s good in heart as any little kid who only wants to be happy and help others (unbashfully I can say I was/am also that little kid).
I´m very happy to have you both in my life ;)
"Many have truly benefited under her tutelage and I am simply one of them"..... I want to shout to the world that, "I am one of them too!!!"
I am proud to tell all of you that the "Miss Daisy" Miss Michelle is referring to is one of my ANGELS. It was in her confidence in me that I started to believe in myself. "Tonet, believe in yourself! I believe you, now when are you going to start believing in yourself?!!!" as she dropped these lines when she gave me an acting workshop in the Siddhartha musical back then. If you could just see my journal, a number of pages are full of text that talks about her and how her words of wisdom have influenced me much not only as an artist but as a whole person as well. She and Miss Michelle are truly unbelievable. I actually envy their friendship because aside from the fact that they attract each other well (since it's proven that opposite attracts heheheh...), it's full of TRUTH and LOVE.
Miss Daisy, thanks for believing in us (in me specially). You don't know how much i awe my personal and spiritual growth in you and Ms Michelle as well. You were there, just in time and so I am infinitely grateful to GOD...
"So much of me, is made of what I learned from you. You'll be with me, like a handprint on my heart..." - For Good from the musical, Wicked
You will always have my prayers... GOD bless you more................
Hello Karl and Antoinette, oh my I am deeply touched with each of your sharing. You are among those who inspire me to become better as a trainer, director, teacher and individual. I keep thanking God for sending me students and performers who see the wisdom behind the rigors of training. I am honored to be part of your growth and wish you both well in your respective lives.
Karl, Michelle has shared with me the challenge you face now and I pray that you remain strong and apply some of the life concepts we discussed before. Remain grateful for it is in these moments when one learns the best lessons in life. Keep smiling:)
Antoinette, I too have heard of the work experience you went through and I am happy to hear you have survived it. I was not surprised though for you have always displayed your capacity to endure and come out victorious out of every challenge you faced at your young age. This is the very reason you won grand prize in the international singing competition in Taiwan. Your dedication to your craft and passion to learn about life and love has allowed you to surpass tremendous trials. Keep on keeping on and abundance shall fill your life.
Be blessed always, both of you. Hugs:)
Well then, I guess I have grown much into a stronger person now because of the people around me who believed in me. GOD is so great that He has given me "you". Ripplemaker: I enjoyed getting to know more about Daisy- the day she is in Oprah, some of us can say, "hey, I met Daisy in Hubpages!". Whooo! Its a blessing to have artistic talents, and I am glad Daisy has them. I can picture you singing very soflty when meeting her for the first, hehe.
